Resonant frequency tests the uniformity in a structure and the density of a casting. Knowing that every component has a unique resonant signature or pattern that reflects its composition, our resonant frequency testing machine detects deviations from the expected signature or pattern.
Tensile testing measures the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation for iron casting materials. At Poitras, every production lot number is tested and the results are safely kept on record in our system.
Thermal arrest system
Advanced thermal arrest systems establish the properties of the iron. By examining the solidification rate of the iron, metallurgists can determine the integrity of the casting. During the cooling process, as iron goes from a liquid to a solid, it goes through phase transformations which releases or absorbs heat. By measuring these “events” we are able to predict if the castings will be solid and if the structure can be machined.
Our ultrasonic testing technique is based on the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the casting. The ultrasonic waves are transmitted into the casting to detect internal flaws or to characterize materials.
